Full Review of the Cateye Strada Double Wireless Cycle Computer
The Cateye Strada Double Wireless Cycle Computer is a simple device that does what it says on the tin. Despite its discrete size, the display screen is comparatively large and easy-to-read, although it does not have a backlight which is a shame.
The “double” in the name refers to its cadence capability, something that its brother the Cateye Strada does not have. While not quite in the same league as some of the high-end cycle computers, it still proves its value as a cycling companion.
Setting up the Cateye Strada Double Wireless Cycle Computer
Because of its simple design, this cycle computer is very easy to install. The fact that it is wireless and that the speed and cadence sensor are all in one means that you will not have to faff about with wires or multiple sensors – nice one! It uses ClickTec technology which means that it has a one click operation to navigate through all of its functions. So when you are gunning it down the road, finding the right setting is as easy as pie.
Unfortunately, there is no computer download facility and although that is a shame in some ways, it does make fitting it much easier than it would otherwise be with that function.
The Cateye Strada Double Wireless Cycle Computer on the road
The large digits on the screen are a real plus when using the Strada Double Wireless Cycle Computer. Obviously, the cadence information is the reason for buying this version rather than the basic model, so it is nice that this bit of data is given due prominence.
The ClickTec button is also really useful and very responsive so you won’t need to apply too much pressure to flick through the modes. The unit stayed nice and firm on the handlebars and didn’t slide round as is sometimes the case with this kind of fastening. The only real gripe is that it could do with a back light.
Should you buy one?
Although an excellent bit of kit, I am afraid this all boils down to personal preference. I would recommend it for entry-level and intermediate cyclists as it is user friendly and allows you to check you cadence. It is very reliable and easy to set up which is not something to be laughed at. Of course, two major drawbacks of the Cateye Strada Double Wireless Cycle Computer are the lack of a backlight and the inability to download information. Whether or not this is a dealbreaker is entirely up to you.

I purchased this to get rid of an older version that stopped working. It is really a treat to do away with the old wires since this version is wireless. It is quite easy to set up but avoid tightening the nylon zip ties too tightly. Cateye does not provide any extras so once you have them tighten you cannot remove them. You may need to due a few trial runs but it’s worth the inconvenience. The display is easy to read. I measured the kilometer markers at my local bike trial and they were exactly correct. All you need to do is to press the middle button to reset the data and the Distance 1 mode starts over again.
